PCWorld.ie is a joke

If you visit pcworld.ie right now, you’ll get an invalid hostname error.

If you visit www.pcworld.ie right now (notice the difference), you’ll see a crap ‘coming soon’ page.

If you visited either pcworld.ie or www.pcworld.ie a year ago, you would have gotten a functional online store.

If you visit either pcworld.co.uk or www.pcworld.co.uk right now, you get a very attractive online store.

Two points here:

  1. If you have a functional online store already in place, don’t take it down. If you have to take it down, don’t take it down for a year.
  2. Multinational retailers don’t take Ireland seriously. Not even a little bit.

I just tried to access PC World’s Irish website and was greeted by a ‘website under construction’ page instead, interesting to find out here that they have had the same message up for at least a year, either they are bullshitting the Irish public or they are going to unveil one of the world’s most amazing websites - over a year in the making! - somehow I doubt it’s the latter though, BS World more likely.

pc world: ‘website under construction’4 months.
harvey norman: ‘website under construction’,since the very first day they come in here. And still nothing. My point is that we live in such a moment of
history, when even a sex worker can build her own website in few days(having in minde that computers are not her tools). So,do u still believe them.I am foreigner but i feel and think Irish, and dont like
to be be treated as a second class cittizen.
SOLUTION:ignore and dont bay on such shops. At the
end of the day they are expensive when compare to
    alternative retailers………

Curry’s - same company as PC World is also “under construction”. It’s unbelievable that these stores selling computers and technology can’t be bothered to sort a website out! I had to ring PC World today to check the spec of a Dell laptop they’d taken a half page ad in the Irish Times to publicise. Couldn’t even use a (free) mobile call as it was a lo-call number. The Irish end of the company is a complete disgrace.

PCWorld is part of the Currys Group (as is Dixons). They should have had a website 10 years ago both here and in the UK. Their senior management leave a lot to be desired. A prime example of no vision and not being able to move with the times. I do not believe they will last long.
